Join the DMU Physical Therapy Clinic and work in a dynamic sports rehabilitation and orthopedic outpatient setting that combines hands-on, patient-centered care with advanced technology.  This is an exciting opportunity for a physical therapist who wants to expand their clinical skills, collaborate with experienced clinicians, and help grow an innovative sports medicine practice in the DMU Physical Therapy Clinic at the MidAmerican RecPlex location.  You will treat active individuals and athletes using cutting-edge tools, including 3D motion capture, blood flow restriction therapy, isokinetic testing, and sports performance training equipment.  This role also includes clinical teaching opportunities and participation on an interdisciplinary team. 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered physical therapy services in an outpatient sports rehabilitation and orthopedic setting.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations, interpret test results and implementing a physical therapy treatment plan to meet the patient’s goals and functional needs.
  • Evaluate, document and communicate  patients' progress  in accordance with Medicare and DMU Clinic documentation standards.
  •  Participate in practice development, including networking with community and athletic partners, quality improvement initiatives and peer chart reviews. Attend and contribute to clinic  in-services, professional development activities and program initiatives.  
  • Provide clinical educational opportunities for students of physical therapy, podiatric medicine, osteopathic medicine and job shadows for healthcare professionals. 
  • Adheres to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice, including the Iowa Physical Therapy Practice Ace and FERPA requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • A licensed (or license-eligible) Physical Therapist in the State of Iowa.
  • Experience of 1-2 years in an outpatient or sports therapy setting preferred.
  • Experience as a clinical instructor to physical therapy students is preferred.
  • Interest in teaching, learning and professional development with a growth mindset for expanding clinical skills.
