Assessment Specialist

Assessment responsibilities include preparing and managing assessment datasets and related tools, assisting faculty with assessment processes, analyzing data and preparing reports in support of student learning and institutional effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in learning assessment, educational psychometrics, higher education, instructional design, statistics, or a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Experience in using learning or assessment management systems and data visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SAS, R, Qualtrics, Google Forms, Mural).
  • Experience with statistical analysis required.
  • Experience with development of assessment instruments (e.g., rubrics, checklists, exams/quizzes, attitudinal measures, observational evaluations, surveys, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the collection, coding and management of assessment data to support program improvement efforts.
  • Analyze, interpret and report assessment data to identify longitudinal trends and cross-sectional patterns in student learning outcomes and/or program data.
  • Contribute to course improvement and faculty development plans/programs that utilize evaluation data, peer evaluation, and best practice in instructional design and pedagogy to enhance faculty teaching and learning experience and improve student learning outcomes.
  • Provide professional development support and training for program faculty on the effective use of formative and summative assessments.
