At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking an academic assistant to support complex, diversified, and confidential administrative duties of the department for the Director/Chair and program faculty. Primary responsibilities will be to create and maintain files and reports, manage communication with internal and external entities, arrange meetings, organize projects and office work, summarize and analyze data, support budgeting, order supplies and equipment, maintain inventory, assist with Department functions and events, and support department committees.

What you’ll do:

  •  Assists in the development and analysis of unit operating policies, such as record-keeping systems, forms control, office layout, personnel and budgetary requirements, and performance standards; makes recommendations as necessary.
  • Composes and prepares a variety of information, including memos, letters, and reports with critical information that may be time sensitive.
  • Handles telephone calls and emails. Routes appropriately; takes messages and assists with questions.
  • Prepares presentation materials and coordinates meetings.

What we’re looking for:

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant required.
  • Higher education experience preferred and highly desirable.
