As a Content and Marketing Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the university’s story is told and shared. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to create impactful written content across multiple platforms, helping to elevate DMU’s brand, connect with diverse audiences, and advance the university’s strategic goals through thoughtful and engaging communication.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive content strategy that leverages earned, owned and paid media to support the university’s goals.
  • Write, review and edit content for DMU’s targeted audiences across multiple channels, including websites, social media, email, donor narratives, news media, print materials, advertising campaigns, videos, multimedia presentations and other promotional channels.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce accurate and compelling content related to medical and health sciences education, research, community and donor engagement and the Des Moines University Clinic.
  • Acts as the primary communications liaison for designated programs and departments, ensuring their unique stories are told effectively. This could include admissions, student affairs, university advancement, research and the Des Moines University clinic.
  • Collaborate with marketing team members to manage the content calendar and production workflow to guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality marketing materials.
  • Analyze content performance using data insights to refine strategies and enhance audience engagement.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in content creation, marketing or similar roles.
  • Experience in higher education or health care settings is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000, depending on experience.
