DMU is seeking a Library Services Technical Associate, under the guidance of the Assistant Director of the Center for Educational Enhancement-Library Services to support appropriate services within the Center for Educational Enhancement (CEE), including oversight of access services. Functions include interlibrary loan, systems administration of the library management system, and coordinating digital content and access to resources within the institutional repository and course reserves systems. This position will also supervise and train student workers. This position will be cross trained to assist with technical troubleshooting and other customer service-oriented functions. The individuals in this position will join a team dedicated to advancing quality, technology-enhanced teaching, learning, research, and scholarship.
What you’ll do:
- The direct supervisor may assign focused priorities for library associate to reflect digital services, reference services, collection management, etc., as needed,
- Oversee all aspects of access services, ensuring high quality customer service. Maintain day-to-day management of the library’s print collections. Perform collection maintenance duties such as inventory, the monitoring of shelf accuracy, shifting, and weeding. Prepare theses for binding and process for the shelf, including barcoding and entering records into library catalog.
- Hire, train, and manage the library’s work-study students, ensuring that circulation procedures and policies are followed. Work with Financial Aid to appropriately process paperwork and to ensure that the library remains within federal work-study guidelines. Schedule work-study students for all hours that the library collection room is open. Monitor and approve student timecards, and work with Assistant Director of the Center for Educational Enhancement-Library Services to monitor federal work-study budget.
- Oversee DMU’s interlibrary loan lending and borrowing processes in a timely manner, which include managing all incoming borrowing and lending requests, preparing materials for arrival and return, choosing appropriate delivery methods, and resolving issues as they occur. Provide document delivery services to the DMU community. Oversee Electronic Fund Transfer Services (EFTS), reconciling billing charges and resolving issues as they occur.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in information science is preferred.
- One year of experience with library management systems, databases, interlibrary loan, interlibrary loan management systems, web site maintenance, library technologies, technology vendors, and ITS departments is strongly preferred.
