At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (.8) who performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties within the Behavioral Health clinic.

What you’ll do:

  • Welcome patients to the clinic.
  • Gather clinical information from the patient and other sources. Document clinical information in the patient’s electronic health record (EHR); including taking and recording patient vital signs, medications, allergies, histories, and other clinically relevant information.
  • Answer phones, take messages and follow-up on messages from patients, physicians and other staff members in a timely manner.
  • Call in medication prescriptions as directed by the physicians/Physician Assistants.
  • Prepare patients and the exam room for procedures; draw up any needed medications for procedures. Assists physicians as needed. Documents accordingly.
  • Schedule appointments for referrals and other tests ordered by the physicians.

What we are looking for:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
  • Prefer vocational experience in mental health field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers.
