As an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program, you will engage and mentor advanced practitioners through a dynamic, clinically relevant curriculum designed to elevate leadership and practice. We welcome candidates based in Iowa, as well as those in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana, who are committed to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals through high-quality, student-centered instruction.

What you’ll do:

  • Teach and/or coordinate courses in the online Doctor of Medical Science program related to area of content expertise.  Teaching courses includes preparation of the syllabus, preparation of learning materials, frequent and clear communication with students and other program faculty, strong faculty engagement and presence in the online course, and responsiveness to student questions (via email or in the course site)
  • Seek and evaluate innovative educational methodologies to improve teaching and learning activities.
  • Create or modify course content, assessments, and/or teaching style based on assessment results, professional development experience, and curricular mapping results.
  • Participate in instructor evaluation, assessment of student academic achievement and demonstrate modification of teaching techniques in accordance with assessment feedback.
  • Participate in program accreditation activities as assigned.
  • Participate in and successfully complete all university-required training.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • Faculty should hold the appropriate graduate degree, (e.g., DMSc, DHS, PhD, EdD, etc.) in physician assistant/associate, public health, health administration, or education or a closely related discipline relevant to the department’s academic curricula. 
  • Must be familiar with innovative teaching methodologies and effective student evaluation methods.
  • Candidates located in Iowa are preferred; however, applicants from Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, or Indiana may also be considered.

Annual Security Report

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Des Moines University publishes an annual security report and makes it available to all current and prospective students and employees. The report contains a description of DMU’s safety and security-related policy statements and procedures and includes statistics of crimes reported over the past three years to DMU officials about incidents occurring on campus locations or nearby public property. The report also includes information about ways to stay safe and report security-related incidents.
