The Patient Services Representative (PSR) PRN serves as a key member of the clinic team, delivering exceptional customer service and supporting patients throughout their care journey. This role helps ensure a positive patient experience while supporting efficient clinic operations and continuity of care.
What you’ll do:
Patient Experience & Customer Service
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, students, and callers by providing professional, courteous, and compassionate customer service; answer and direct calls, respond to questions or concerns, and maintain a welcoming, organized reception area.
Scheduling & Patient Access
- Maintain provider schedules by scheduling, rescheduling, and coordinating appointments, follow-up visits, and wellness exams to optimize patient access and clinic efficiency.
- Register patients, maintain demographic information, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain referrals and prior authorizations, and ensure required forms and documentation are completed and accurately maintained in the EHR.
Check-In, Check-Out & Revenue Cycle Support
- Complete patient check-in and check-out processes, collect and reconcile patient payments, prepare deposits, and assist with insurance follow-up activities and patient billing inquiries.
Administrative & Clinical Support
- Prepare clinic schedules and visit documentation; manage medical records, referrals, and outside documentation; maintain accurate records in the EHR; and provide administrative support to providers, students, and clinic staff.
Teamwork & Organizational Responsibilities
- Collaborate with providers, students, leadership, and team members; maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality; participate in required training and meetings; support process improvements; and perform other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or post-secondary education in healthcare, business, or a related field preferred.
- One year of customer service or administrative experience required.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while using Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
